Today India witnessed d first verdict in the Delhi Rape case. The Rape which shook the whole country,the rape which brought
lacs of people on the streets ,the rape which shook the political class ,the rape which made amendment in the law ,the rape which woke up people and made them realise ,”Ohh women in r country are not safe” infact the kind of outrage this case saw was not coz of mere sympathy but also coz of fear that,”Yes next time it can b our loved one” also coz of d leak of the brutality by which the girl was raped .
Out of d 6 accused,the main accused suicide in jail-again a blow to the system but he met his fate.The four accused are undergoing trial and will b soon hopefully punished-most probably they’ll face capital punishment i.e life imprisonment – but all these are mere predictions and optimistic expectations at d moment
The sixth accused however a juvenile got a mere punishment of 3 years ??? “wtf” this is wat d normal person will think and rightly so because v r linked to it emotionally and morally .Could a juvenile (who was just few days short to 18 wen he raped) not hear the cries of d girl ,could he not c the pain ,can a rapist even be called a BACCHA ?? the questions seems endless ,absurd and annoying.But v can see that r emotions cannot b clubbed with the law -wen ideally it should for such a crime. The effects of a juvenile getting through d punishment in d Delhi case could b seen in d Mumbai case wer d family of a accused claimed him to b juvenile wen he was not !!! such seems to b d flaw in d law. V cannot let a boy short of 18 yrs by just 2 days so a crime and get away !!! But nor was it d courts fault because it is under the purview of d law,it is upto d MP’s to understand the intensity of the issue and d legislative community should make amendment’s as soon as possible and make provisions within the juvenile justice act to make sure anti-social elements do not take disadvantage of it and set free.
